Blog software is a pain!

Really. All I wanted to do was to write things and put pictures onto the web without all the hand-coding I’d been doing for the last few years. The previous blog software I used destroyed itself AND was hacked, a couple times. It was the same brand that I’m currently trying again, I’m afraid, so of course I’m reluctant to hope for good things. I have been told that this one has several new-and-improved auto functions and security holes.

In the end, both methods are terrible; it’s just that this system breaks more spectacularly. Trying to get this thing to work is like constructing a machine to fly to the moon: the first one crashed and burned, and now that the second attempt works I won’t touch any of its customizable settings. I’ve had more success installing server software onto an abacus.

Coming from a background of computers and things, I am of course intrigued by the underlying mechanics of software things. Have I learned anything? There are worse things in life than spending the day fiddling with easily breakable things.

Welcome to a (hopefully) new site!
